Knitwear Care Guide

Crafted with quality fabrics, Tiger of Sweden knitwear is effortlessly luxurious and tactile, and its lifespan can be prolonged with this care guide.

In the wardrobe and after use

Knitwear should be allowed to rest between wears to maintain shape and freshness. Lightweight knit tops should be hung on cedar hangers to hold their shape. Thick and heavy knits should be folded and stored on a shelf with cedar balls or lavender bags to deter moths and other vermin. After wearing, air your knitwear outside the wardrobe overnight.

Washing your knits

Washing your knitwear too often will cause tearing and remove natural oils in the fibre, leading to thinning and misshaping. As such, we recommend washing as little as possible and using a gentle wash programme when it must be done. Most Tiger of Sweden knitwear can be machine washed at a low temperature with a wool or hand wash programme. Still, we recommend separating knitwear from your regular laundry and turning it inside out before washing. Always follow the washing information on the care label.

We also recommend handwashing your knitwear. Do not leave the garment to soak but start washing straight away and gently squeeze the water out. To avoid tearing, use lukewarm water with an eco-friendly wool detergent.

Use a soft-bristled brush to remove small stains or dust. Use a damp cloth to gently dab the stain if the stain remains.

After washing knitwear, dry the garment flat after squeezing out as much water as possible (while avoiding wringing or twisting). Hang on a drying rack over a dry towel to allow air to circulate from below.

Knitwear is delicate, so beware of zippers and keep your garments safe from sharp objects and edges. If holes appear, repair them by patching the elbows with leather patches or sewing the gap with a contrasting thread.
