General Shoe Care

General Shoe Care

Timelessness is stitched meticulously into every pair of shoes we craft. Due to the high quality of our shoes, it is important to take care of them properly so they will last for years to come.

To ensure your Tiger of Sweden shoes last the test of time we have compiled this guide to help you care for them.

Always use a shoe horn

If you damage the counter (the back of the shoe), the structure will be compromised and your shoe will no longer provide your foot with the necessary support needed.

Use shoetrees

Using cedar wood shoetrees in your shoes will help to absorb moisture and maintain the shape of the shoe as they dry, whilst also helping to prevent the leather from cracking.

Brush off after wear

The best and easiest way to keep your shoes fresh for as long as possible is to simply brush the dirt off your shoes after wearing them using a soft shoe brush. This is as important for sneakers as your dress shoes.

Rotate your shoes

The best way to extend the life of your shoes is to rotate your shoes. Try to let your shoes rest at least 1 day after each wear. They will keep their shape better, and the leather won't crack.

Add an outsole

Leather is a natural material that breathes, even through the sole (if the sole is made of leather, that is). If you plan to only wear your shoes in dry conditions and indoors, you don't need to add any outsole. But if you want to wear the shoes outside throughout the seasons in damp conditions we highly recommend adding a rubber sole.

If hard rain falls

If your shoes get wet, pad the shoes dry from water and stuff the shoes with newspaper to soak up moisture. Let the shoes dry slowly at room temperature. Do not use a hair dryer on your shoes or leave them next to a radiator or other heat sources, as this might cause the leather to crack. When the shoes are dry again we recommend you to condition your shoes.
