Denim Care guide

Denim is a staple in any wardrobe, no matter the season, and one of its most unique characteristics is that the fabric develops over time, resulting in wear marks unique to you and your garment.

To make sure your Tiger of Sweden jeans last longer, we have compiled a denim care guide to prolong the lifespan of this wardrobe essential.

When wearing your jeans

Don’t pull the belt loops when putting on your jeans. This is the weakest point, and they are there solely to hold your belt in place. Due to the natural characteristics of denim, jeans may bleed and transfer onto lighter colours, including upholstery and white sneakers. The darker the jeans are, the more likely they are to bleed.

Washing your jeans

It is vital that you wash your jeans as rarely as possible. If you have only worn your jeans a few times, you don't need to launder them. Air the jeans outside or freeze them to kill bacteria. Remove stains with a damp cloth or old toothbrush with cold water and a mild soap bar. Turn the jeans inside out, wash on a cold and gentle program, or hand wash with eco-friendly detergent. Cold water maintains the colour and reduces the risks of fading and shrinking. It also saves energy!

If you are washing your jeans for the first time, clean them alone or with similar colours since they may bleed.

Line-Dry

Dryers are the enemy of jeans, causing the fibres to break down. Instead, hang them to dry in a shady space because doing so preserves the fit and helps avoid shrinkage and fabric warping. Turning your jeans inside out also prevents fading and will ensure your pockets are dry.

Repairing your denim

If your jeans need repairing, we encourage you to do so by yourself or hire a professional. Due to denim’s unique characteristics, repairing ensures a longer lifespan, and the jeans will still look great.
